Nativity #1

                                                                                            Day 1 ---->
Well hello! Here is what I have been working on for the last week and a half!! A nativity I am doing for a gift.  I am hoping to finish two nativities for Christmas to give as gifts.  The second on is a different pattern.  From the progress I am making on this one I don't think that will be a problem. I purposefully chose simple patterns as I am still trying to recover from the dragon!!  Please enjoy the pics and I will post more next week as I am about to begin on the 2nd wise man tonight.                       Day 2------->

Finally finished James Paul's Started School sampler and now to get it framed hopefully BEFORE Christmas. He wants a blue mat because that's his favorite color!  So glad I finally got it done. He started Kindergarten as you can tell in 2010 and I just now got around to it! Better late than never I say.

This is the start for a nativity I plan on finishing before Christmas and give as a gift. Will be doing 2 of them (not exactly the same) so hope to work on them a lot!

Peace and blessings!

20 years

So this weekend is my 20th high school reunion! Yikes it cannot be possible it has been 20 years! Seems like only yesterday we were entering high school as fresh faced freshmen, scared of the upperclassmen and excited about football season and going to homecoming and trying to get the cute boys to notice us! Then we were Seniors and getting our class rings, year books and gowns for graduation.  Time flies by so fast and rarely do we take time to appreciate it when we are young.  Would I go back and do it again? Naw probably not.  It was fun but also full of anxiety and worry.  Would I pass that class? Would so-n-so ask me out? And a thousand other things that really meant nothing in the long run.

Now my son is a freshman. Seems that only yesterday he was a baby in my arms.  Three more years and it will be Senior rings, year books and graduation!  I hope he takes the time to notice things and remember them and enjoy them.

I know this is a little melancholy but I really am excited about seeing my classmates again! I have loved being on the internet and facebook and finding old friends again and I can't wait to see them in person again! I want to show off my kiddos and meet spouses and just spend time remembering "the good old days"!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and I will post new pics of  projects on Sunday or Monday.  The sampler has moved right along and will probably be finished Monday or Tuesday since I will be busy all weekend.

Yes that is me 20 years ago, much bigger hair back then...

Christmas plans!

Awwww cooler weather is here at last! A time when a young mom's fancy turns to inexpensive Christmas ideas! LOL Yes I have already begun the mad dash to Christmas with homemade gifts this year! Grandparents and Teachers you are first on the homemade list next will come Aunts and Uncles!  Got a really cool craft this year but I can't post it yet since there will be people reading this blog!  But I promise, cross my heart and hope to die, to post pics as soon as the holidays are over!

I know I am a horrible tease in the mean time I am so close to finishing the dragon one good day of nothing but stitching will get it finished but who has time for a whole day of stitching?  I WILL PREVAIL!  Need to post new pics this week and I will by Friday I swear! LOL

Peace and Blessings!

JP's handprint

This is JP's handprint for starting Kindergarten. It became a tradition with my oldest when he was in K, although they did his in class.  Anyway he started Kinder last year and we just now got around to this and now I need to finish the dragon and get started on his started school sampler to match the older two.  Goodness I am getting behind! They started school Monday the 22nd and so far it is going good but this is just day 3 and I am already counting down to next summer. LOL

Well so long and blessings and peace!

Wow it is getting to be that time of year

School will be starting next week and three of my little ones will be in school! I normally have already ranted about school supplies but I haven't bought that many yet...I tend to rant about the ones they don't really need or that the school should be providing!  Anyway I am getting closer to being done with the dragon and am excited about starting the school sampler for James Paul! Will post pics of dragon again next week maybe or maybe tomorrow if I remember! LOL

Have to go to a family function this weekend with the hubby and it will be a drive there and back through some pretty dry countryside, even with the rain we were blessed with last week it remains in drought conditions over much of our area. Keep us in your prayers!

Halloween is fast approaching and hoping to get some decorations up this year and the kids costumes either bought or made soon! Went in Michaels for some inspiration yesterday and the kids were very excited although JP only likes the cutesy and or funny decorations...

Love and blessings for you all!

End of July!

Ok so the no Dr Pepper thing didn't last, just missed the tasted too much.  Anyway haven't touched the dragon in about a week, Lord I need some accountability! I have been working on a crochet shawl/wrap and it is coming along. It is lightweight and pretty cute in the light pink that I had left over from a baby afghan.

July is nearly over now so it is time to start getting the kiddos ready for school! Can't believe the summer is almost gone...well I can. We have been super busy and the kids have been tearing up the house and playing in the pool, my little Billy Bear is becoming a little brown, blonde child! Hope everyone has a great week and check in with me on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000280663611&sk=info

Holiday fun

Had a wonderful time Saturday with friends! I did cheat over the weekend and had a couple Dr Peppers but I also drank quite a bit of alcohol so I think that evens out, don't you? LOL Now it is back to the daily grind of work and water.  I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend and didn't catch anything on fire!  I promised photos of the dragon project and I will get them I promise (again) before the end of the week!

Blessings and Peace to you all!

Almost 3 weeks...

Almost 3 full weeks Dr Pepper free and out comes the story that Dr Pepper Snapple Group is suing Dublin Dr Pepper for contract infringement so it is all over on Facebook and the radio! I am being tested that is the only explanation. I WILL OVERCOME!

Okay enough ranting...I am moving right along with the dragon cross stitch and it's a good thing too just about 1/3 left to do then on to the back stitch!  My problem with the pattern is the blended needles and color changes, I much prefer to do little color change and bold colors. I lie I do like to do the more complex projects too but this one is kicking my derrière!  I promised pictures in my first post and I will not disappoint! I WILL post a picture of this project in my next post!

Love and Kisses!

PS have found a pattern for a crochet shirt that I want to try, looks pretty simple and may get started next week after the party or I may make myself finish the dragon first...votes?

:)

Well I just realized I have had nothing to drink except water and one frozen daiquiri for quite some time...to add some flavor I have been using the flavor packs that you add to bottles of water but have tried to stay away from those that use artificial sweeteners.  Choices are very limited but there are some out there.  Crystal Light has a range called Pure that is a total of 30 calories for a 16.9 ounces of water, it uses citric acid to sweeten.  Another one that I really like is from Arizona Tea Company, Pomegranate Green Tea, it has 0 calories, yes you read that correctly, 0 calories and is sweetened with powered honey and citric acid.  My hubby likes some of the other flavors of tea and such but I like fruity stuff.  I did spend about 30 minutes in the drink mix aisle at my store reading labels and deciding which ones to try.  With the variety it is making giving up the sugary drinks loads easier.

Have been busy getting ready for our party on Saturday and have been clearing out a LOT of stuff.  Hoping to keep that trend going! Want to simplify and clear out the clutter definitely do NOT want to end up on that Hoarders show! LOL  Need to do a little tonight and then sit down to watch some more auditions for America's Got Talent and stitch some more on the dragon piece.

Peace to you all!

2 weeks later...

Yes it has been 2 weeks now and no Dr Pepper.  At first I wasn't missing it very much but I am starting to crave the flavor!  Tonight will be a real test as we are going to a restaurant for dinner with friends and it would be soooo easy to order that soda instead of water!  Focus on the goal! When I have this one mastered I will move on to different eating habits but for now water is my friend. LOL :D

Blessings and Love to everyone!

Dragon Cross Stitch

Working diligently to finish this dragon for my mother in law's friend! Have been working on it for about a year and due to other things cropping up and frustration with the pattern (lots of color changes and blended colors) but am more than half finished, maybe even three quarters done!  I have found if I start talking about it I work on it more so I am carrying it with me to work and to Karate and everywhere!  Now all I have to do is get someone to keep me accountable to keep working!

On another subject, I have given up my beloved Dr. Peppers and am determined to lose some weight!  I am trying to eat healthier and work out a little every day.  I don't feel like I am making much progress so far but again if I put it in writing and I can stay accountable then I am determined to make it happen!

First Post

So here it is! My hubby has been on me for a while to start my own blog where I can post what I am doing so here it is!  Expect to see pics of cross stitch, crochet and yard and garden work, along with pics of kids and hubby.  Looking forward to doing this on a regular basis. See ya soon!
